The retaining wall outside The Walton Hotel on North Road has been temporarily propped with sand bags to make it safe whilst essential works are completed on the hotel. The area has been fenced off and pedestrians are requested to use the footpath on the opposite side of the road if necessary.
Paul Stafford, Operations Manager at The Walton has asked us to communicate this statement “The Walton is a grade II listed property and we’re undertaking a full renovation of the building, in consultation with English Heritage and the Nottingham University Archives of the Park Estate to make sure any work is done sympathetically and in keeping with the rich heritage of the local area. With any renovation project, there are always a few surprises along the way, and this includes the need to rebuild the retaining wall on North Road. On the advice of structural engineers, sandbags have been placed around the wall to provide extra stability until the work can be completed. The extensive repairs to the roof and the new rendering on the outside of the building are nearly finished, and we’re looking forward to the scaffolding coming down in the next few weeks, when work on the wall can begin.
We apologise for the inconvenience while the pavement is inaccessible, and thank all Park residents for their continued support while we return the hotel to its former glory.”
