Integritas - New Maintenance Contractors
NPEL is pleased to welcome Integritas to The Park, our new maintenance contractors. They are currently going through The Park, street by street, concentrating on sweeping, pruning low hanging branches, and removing epicormic growth (the "skirt" of leaves that grows at the base of trees).They are also weeding (by hand and strimmer), and for now, will manage the weed situation without chemicals (there aren't any significant extra costs to this option). There is still much debate on glyphoshate in the National press, which NPEL will continue to follow.
Dog Walking in Peveril Garden
In response to requests from a large contingent of dog walkers in The Park, NPEL has decided to allow temporary use of Peveril Garden for this use, so that dogs may have access to a green open space. Dogs must be kept under control at all times and of course, owners must clean up their dog's mess immediately. We ask dog walkers to respect that Newcastle Circus and Lincoln Circus are not for dog walkers' use.  Full details here
Office Staff
  • We have had a few instances lately where our staff have been subject to rude or bullying behaviour. We appreciate that tempers can run high over issues where residents are particularly passionate, however staff are carrying out their duties as directed and we expect them to be treated with respect and courtesy. 
  • We are delighted to welcome on board a new member of staff - Elizabeth Marsland joined us on 14th September as Estate Assistant, and will be working closely with Adam Lloyd, the Estate's General Manager.
Robin Hood Marathon and September Farmers Market
The annual Robin Hood Marathon will be returning to The Park this year. The route is confirmed as entering The Park by The Castle, going along Lenton Rd, then up Park Drive, through the Circuses then exit via North Road. Although there will be some rolling road closures affecting 3 of our vehicle entrances (for a couple of hours from 9am), residents will be able to enter and exit The Park via Newcastle Drive. Please be aware however, that nearby public roads like Castle Boulevard may be closed. Letter to Park Properties 
We apologise for any inconvenience caused, and hope that residents will enjoy the event (which raises a huge sum for local charities), and also the regular Farmers Market that will be taking place.
The Bowl
Further to the meeting on 9th June to discuss proposals for The Bowl, Nottingham City Council has approved the planning application made by ActiveAce. The three main (constituted) Park organisations – NPEL, NPRA, NPCT, details at this link if you are unsure what these organisations are  – are united in supporting the collective proposals being put forward by the Park Tennis Club and ActiveAce to provide more community facilities, i.e:
  • Restoring the Tennis Club Pavilion building and making it more practical for community use
  • Restoring the Bowls Club Pavilion in a similar way
  • Converting the “Green Building”, currently approved for demolition, into a Tea Room
  • Putting a playground within the Active Ace Arena on the derelict tennis court
Concerns have been expressed about the plans (particularly regarding parking, noise levels, and how the layout might affect ActiveAce’s immediate neighbours), and after the consultation meetings, and changes made by ActiveAce, we hope that residents feel that these have now been addressed. 
Park Groups
As well as the Park organisations mentioned above, there are a range of other social and community groups in The Park. Please see our website, “Park Groups and Useful Links” section.
  • NPEL is re-introducing a Construction Licence scheme in the next few months, for which property/business owners will need to apply for before carrying out works on their property that will be encroaching on to Park pavements or roads.  This will ensure that work is carried out safely, in a timely manner, and with minimal disruption to Park residents. Existing works will be given one month's notice before a licence will need to be applied for. Further details will be confirmed shortly.  Please note, the works currently being carried out at The Walton Hotel are to prop up the structurally unsound wall. We are in contact with The Walton and expect to be receiving a timeline from them shortly as to when it can be completed. In the meantime, The Walton has asked us to convey their apologies.
  • Tattershall Drive (Tunnel Road to North Road) will be resurfaced from 5th October, for a period of 5 days. To make this process as quick as possible, there will be no parking and access on the road between 0800 and 1600hrs for the duration. A letter has been delivered to properties in this area, and signs will be in place to show road diversions. We will of course maintain access for emergency vehicles.
  • We apologise for the recent problems with the rising bollards at Peveril Drive. As previously explained, the electronic Norpass Tag entry system is becoming obsolete and the parts are increasingly difficult to obtain. Adam is currently researching replacement options (including Automatic Number Plate Recognition), and will present his suggestions to the Board shortly.  Any replacement will be investigated thoroughly and we would hope to implement by March 2016.
